Recent discovery of artifacts from around 9000 BC proves the Maya were established in Yucatan by the end of the ice age. According to Maya elders, their ancestors arrived 600 years earlier from Atl, a large island to the east, after “the waters swallowed the source of wisdom, forcing its divine survivors to sail west.” Led by the god-man Itzamna, they introduced a fully developed civilization and cosmology: knowledge of mathematics, astronomy, agriculture, architecture and mystical practices.
Yet few have heard of Itzamna and his sages, the Itz, people who mastered the laws of nature. This documentary is their story, and how the temples of Yucatan and Guatemala are the final expression of a project thousands of years in the making.
